Schools receive an annual resource package for the purpose of providing educational programs for students throughout that year. Schools may also receive other funding from the Department as well as receiving income from other sources. Generally, like the resource package, these funds should be used in the year that they are received. However, in some circumstances, schools may need to carry funds over from one year to the next. A reasonable carry over is 25% of a school's annual resourcing package. As at January 31 2009, Lenah Valley Primary School has carried over the equivalent of 95% of its annual resourcing package. Schools also receive additional funding to help reduce early years class sizes. The average class size at Lenah Valley Primary School for groups containing Prep and Year 1 students is 24.

Information about Lenah Valley Primary School (provided by the school)
Lenah Valley School community strives to live by our motto ‘supporting a community of lifelong learners.’ Our school is acknowledged as having an atmosphere of warmth, acceptance and support and also for its engaging and challenging curriculum. We want every child who leaves our school to be curious and interested in learning, sensitive and open to others’ points of view and informed about global issues. All aspects of school life are underpinned by our school wide expectations ‘we care and give our best.’ Our values of care and respect underpin teaching practice and daily interactions. Students learn to care for themselves, other members within our school community and for people in global communities. There is also a strong emphasis on caring for the environment. We are educating our students to be global citizens for the 21st century. We encourage students to give their best in all fields of endeavour and recognise and build on individual strengths and talents while simultaneously building an interdependent community. Literacy and numeracy skills are explicitly taught in our 2 hour literacy block and a one hour numeracy block each day. We pride ourselves on our high levels of academic excellence in all areas of the curriculum. Our partnership with parents is of upmost importance to us. Sharing knowledge and understanding of your child informs teachers and contributes to the development of responsive programs. We have a very active School Association which provides an avenue for parent input into school decision making and oversees fundraising for the school. Student numbers: 480
