Schools receive an annual resource package for the purpose of providing educational programs for students throughout that year. Schools may also receive other funding from the Department as well as receiving income from other sources. Generally, like the resource package, these funds should be used in the year that they are received. However, in some circumstances, schools may need to carry funds over from one year to the next. A reasonable carry over is 25% of a school's annual resourcing package. As at January 31 2009, Kingston Primary School has carried over the equivalent of 32% of its annual resourcing package. Schools also receive additional funding to help reduce early years class sizes. The average class size at Kingston Primary School for groups containing Prep and Year 1 students is 22.

Information about Kingston Primary School (provided by the school)
Welcome to Kingston Primary School. We hope that your connection with our school will be happy and rewarding. We are proud of the past achievements of Kingston Primary School and we look forward to continuing our fine record of providing an outstanding primary school education in an atmosphere of care and respect of each child. About our School: In 1860, the first Kingston Primary School was opened in Hutchins Street, next to the Police Station. There were thirty-seven pupils and one teacher. One hundred and twenty years later the enrolment had grown to such an extent that on 17th September, 1976 new premises were opened on the present site in Church Street. Further additions were made throughout the 1980's to cope with rapid increases. In 2004, the Mountain View Child Care Centre operated by Blackman’s Bay Childcare Centre opened. This facility offers day care for 0-5 year olds. 50 places are available. In 2007 significant works programs commenced to re-invigorate classroom and playground facilities and to provide 21st Century learning environments. In 2008/9 a major Capital Investment Project of $1.35Million will occur to construct 5 new classrooms and a Music Suite to continue this development and accommodate the school’s growing enrolment. In 2008, Kingston Primary became a Launching into Learning School providing programs for children from Birth to Four.
