Blackmans Bay Primary School has 24 teaching staff and caters for 351 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school's address is 177 Roslyn Avenue BLACKMANS BAY 7052. Phone (03) 6229 6637.

Schools receive an annual resource package for the purpose of providing educational programs for students throughout that year. Schools may also receive other funding from the Department as well as receiving income from other sources. Generally, like the resource package, these funds should be used in the year that they are received. However, in some circumstances, schools may need to carry funds over from one year to the next. A reasonable carry over is 25% of a school's annual resourcing package. As at January 31 2009, Blackmans Bay Primary School has carried over the equivalent of 24% of its annual resourcing package. Schools also receive additional funding to help reduce early years class sizes. The average class size at Blackmans Bay Primary School for groups containing Prep and Year 1 students is 24.

Information about Blackmans Bay Primary School (provided by the school)
At Blackmans Bay students are encouraged to develop a set of values and code of ethics that will enable them to be positive and responsible contributors to their society. These Values help shape our students character in positive ways by building: • Connectedness as a community of learners • Achievement through doing their best • Responsibility through respectful caring and compassionate relationships • Equity through developing understanding, acceptance and inclusion • Resilience through taking on challenges with a persistent approach • Creativity through thinking of new ideas and putting them into practice. • Integrity through showing respect, honesty and trustworthiness. Our Little Learners Centre provides an exciting transition from home to school for children from birth to 4 years and is the start of a close partnership between our school, you and your child. As can be seen from our results we provide a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy that will assist your children through their school education and beyond. Close monitoring of results assists with enhancing student’s progress. We use a variety of teaching styles to develop thinking, problem solving and communication skills. Teachers explicitly teach enquiry skills and strategies. We seek to harness the natural curiosity that comes with childhood to encourage a passion for their scientific world and encourage them to take responsibility for their environment in a sustainable manner. Participating in leadership activities helps students to build self-confidence and become responsible members of our community. We believe all students have the ability to lead, therefore they are provided with hands on opportunities to do so. In year 5 students take on leadership roles in the canteen and as ICT tutors. In year 6 all students have leadership roles and develop leadership skills across many areas. They have opportunities to become mediators, Aussie Sports Leaders, House Captains and Student Council representatives. All classes work along side a buddy class with the older students acting as mentors. There is a wide choice of specialist subject areas offered. These include Physical Education, Japanese, Music, an Instrumental Program and Library Studies. Year Prep to 6 students develop their sportsmanship and skill level by being involved in Cross Country, Athletics and Swimming.
