Brent Street Primary School has 6 teaching staff and caters for 115 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school's address is 79A Brent Street GLENORCHY 7010. Phone (03) 6272 2493.

Schools receive an annual resource package for the purpose of providing educational programs for students throughout that year. Schools may also receive other funding from the Department as well as receiving income from other sources. Generally, like the resource package, these funds should be used in the year that they are received. However, in some circumstances, schools may need to carry funds over from one year to the next. A reasonable carry over is 25% of a school's annual resourcing package. As at January 31 2009, Brent Street Primary School has carried over the equivalent of 51% of its annual resourcing package. Schools also receive additional funding to help reduce early years class sizes. The average class size at Brent Street Primary School for groups containing Prep and Year 1 students is 25.

Information about Brent Street Primary School (provided by the school)
We are committed to valuing every child in our school and accept the responsibility families give us each day, in caring for and educating young Tasmanian children. All students from K – 6, receive specialist instruction in Drama, Music, LOTE and HPE. The school has an explicit literacy strategy that make clear, the literacy skills students should develop. Our school has strong partnerships between the community and other schools. In our Brent Street Community, we learn, we care, we work together. As we look around our school on any given day, we see many examples of how our school is connecting with the home and community. Visit our school and you will see parents coordinating classroom home reader programs, on Friday's you will see our ‘STAR Snacks’ Canteen volunteers, preparing healthy food options. Visit on a Thursday and you will see parents and their young children engaged in fun learning activities as part of our ‘Little Stars’ Launching into Learning program. Visit a classroom and you will see effective relationships between teachers and students. Our Life Skills Kitchen has been a resounding success, with parents, students and staff, exploring, investigating and enjoying working with food. Our aim is pleasurable food education for young children. By introducing this approach we have a chance to positively influence children’s food choices in ways that have not been tried before. In 2009, the school has decided to amlagamate with Glenorchy Primary School. The move to amalgamate is centred around creating a new generation of schools and pre schools within Glenorchy, using funds from the Federal Government's Building Education Revolution. The amalgamation ensures every student having access to increased curriculum choices. The amalgamation is about providing better support for children and families and it is about better learning opportunities for our students. A signficant, $4 million building and refurbishment program will commence at Glenorchy Primary School in July 2009. Six new classrooms and a modern and innovative gym and perfomance space will be constructed. Students from Brent Street Primary School will begin a staged transition in Term 2 2009.
