Hillcrest Primary School has 18 teaching staff and caters for 254 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school's address is 5 Lawrence Drive DEVONPORT 7310. Phone (03) 6424 5211.

Schools receive an annual resource package for the purpose of providing educational programs for students throughout that year. Schools may also receive other funding from the Department as well as receiving income from other sources. Generally, like the resource package, these funds should be used in the year that they are received. However, in some circumstances, schools may need to carry funds over from one year to the next. A reasonable carry over is 25% of a school's annual resourcing package. As at January 31 2009, Hillcrest Primary School has carried over the equivalent of 58% of its annual resourcing package. Schools also receive additional funding to help reduce early years class sizes. The average class size at Hillcrest Primary School for groups containing Prep and Year 1 students is 21.

Information about Hillcrest Primary School (provided by the school)
Hillcrest Primary School is situated on expansive grounds on the outskirts of the North-West seaside port of Devonport. Established in 1983, the school building design incorporates single and double units strategically placed and connected with covered walkways. Classroom environments reflect 21st century best teaching practice with interactive whiteboards, computers, laptops and software to support student learning. A centrally located library, General Purpose Hall and office block service a student population of approximately 300. Students have access to a spacious outdoor environment which includes a full size football oval, fitness track, sand pits, primary and early childhood playground equipment, basketball and netball courts and garden area. Our grounds are situated next to a public bush reserve that is used to further develop an awareness of ecosystems and the environment. Kindergarten is operated in a fenced, separate area and includes birth to 4 and pre-kinder programs as part of the State Launch into Learning initiative. These programs promote early learning and transition to school, as well as establishing strong partnerships with parents. An active School Association with elected parent and staff representatives assists the Principal with school decision making. Many sports teams participate in a variety of weekend and after school sports and the Active After School Communities program encourages health and fitness. On site after school care is provided on a daily basis and a school Canteen and breakfast club is available for students.
