Schools receive an annual resource package for the purpose of providing educational programs for students throughout that year. Schools may also receive other funding from the Department as well as receiving income from other sources. Generally, like the resource package, these funds should be used in the year that they are received. However, in some circumstances, schools may need to carry funds over from one year to the next. A reasonable carry over is 25% of a school's annual resourcing package. As at January 31 2009, Devonport Primary School has carried over the equivalent of 11% of its annual resourcing package. Schools also receive additional funding to help reduce early years class sizes. The average class size at Devonport Primary School for groups containing Prep and Year 1 students is 23.

Information about Devonport Primary School (provided by the school)
Devonport Primary School was the first primary school in Devonport opening in 1886. Today it is a school of approximately 350 students. In over 120 years of education the school has forged a strong tradition and has created and maintained a strong commitment to its motto: "Let those who work hard receive the reward." We aim for all students to participate in and enjoy a broad curriculum and to achieve their personal best. Our school community is proud of the achievements of students particularly in literacy where the school has built a strong reputation as a high performing school. Devonport Primary School also recognises that to maintain high performance standards teachers need to be committed to continuous improvement and to improving the quality of instruction. To this end the school has developed an innovative model to support teachers’ ongoing professional growth because we acknowledge the strong links between improving instruction and improving learning outcomes and student performance.
