Welcome
Welcome to the home page for Tasmanian Government schools' improvement reports. I'm committed to the Government being open, accountable and transparent and this extends to our Government schools. Last year I announced that Tasmania would provide the most comprehensive suite of educational performance data in the country. I have honoured that commitment and have since released Tasmania's Education Performance Report 2007 and 2008, and individual school improvement reports for 2007.
The report can be found at: www.education.tas.gov.au/dept/reports/tasmanias-education-performance-report.
I am now pleased to release the school improvement reports for 2008 that will enable the community to compare achievement and improvement, particularly around the Government's priority areas of the early years, literacy and numeracy, student retention, school improvement and equity, since last year.
My priority is to lift Tasmania's educational outcomes to the top of the nation within ten years and the results from the first common national literacy and numeracy tests, which are reported for the first time this year, show that this is achievable.
Parents and the community can now see annual improvement reports achieved by our schools to monitor their progress over time. We will celebrate the improvement successes of our schools and will respond with policy and resources where further improvement is needed.
The Tasmanian Government is committed to improving educational outcomes and the school improvement reports are important tools in measuring our progress towards achieving our goals.
